What is seco?

Seco (short for Sugar-Ecosystem, pronounced like eco) is an app that analyzes how factors like stress, sleep and the environment affect you blood sugar. Your body is an ecosystem (like a rainforest). So, to effectively manage your blood sugar, you have to understand how it relates to everything else.

How does it work?

Seco analyzes your glucose trends for the relationships between your blood sugar and variables in the weather and your health data, such as your insulin timing and sleep patterns. Here's a brief overview of how it works:

How do I use the app?

You can start tracking your glucose trends with seco in three easy steps:

You :)

Enter your insulin dosages as you inject (the timing and recording of your basal is critical). We are trying to help establish a foundation to build upon for long-term managment.

Dexcom

Synch your Dexcom account with seco so your BGs (blood glucose values) are saved in real time. This is the most important, without Dexcom this app would not be possible.

Fitbit

Synch your FitBit with seco so the app can track your carbs, sleep, heart rate and activity data. Thanks to FitBit, we can now track crucial variables that affect our BGs.

What's Next?

Currently this is being developed in my spare time, if you'd like to contribute drop me a dm.

Disease Turned Therapy: My Story

I’m Dan Cigler. I entered 2017 as a happy, healthy, and successful 24 year old. By Christmas 2017, I’d been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and Diabetic Ketoacidosis, experienced two brushes with death, suffered partial blindness, and closed my business. It was time to reevaluate how I spent my time. Diabetes stole the life I once lived and has replaced it with a new routine, a new passion, and a new direction. I’m dissatisfied with the availability and cost of diabetic products on the market, along with the waste they generate. So I’m designing and developing an alternative. It takes time, patience, and vision to create sustainable change, but I'm playing the long-game and will build the ecosystem iteratively to achieve the best value for Type 1 Diabetics, from someone just like you.
